Hi Vega thanks for your test i don't have a minute to do it.
Pick commons-logging from our repo directly (slc3 repo) it is a java  
package you'll not have any problem to install it directly with rpm.

SLC3 repo :
http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/slc304/i386/RedHat/RPMS/

the pkg :
http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/slc304/i386/RedHat/RPMS/commons- 
logging-1.0.2-12.i386.rpm

You have the risk to meet a conflict sith an equivalent (jpackages- 
commons-logging).

If you have an IM send me a private mail with it.

Continue your test please and report to us if it ork.
