Hi Gordon, unfortunally they have not clearly stated WHY they don't trust SL (the problem concerns above all pubblic IP requests)...I've produced several docs in order to explain how often patches are released, security related issues and so on...but until now they simply say NO! Hi really hope they give me some suggestion in order to close this problem (I'm still waiting for a IP address since Sept 2004...) and make clear once for ever that SL IS secure!!! There has been a lot of effort invested in it. There are successful LCG installations on SL3, SLC3, and Centos as well as RHEL3. Is there anything anyone can do to help convince them? But otherwise it was the standard yaim installation, using same binary rpms as for SL3 installation. The only problem we encountered were missing rpms from the base RHEL distribution, that are assumed present as they are in the base SLC distribution (see other thread!) cheers, Owen. ps. For unrelated reasons, I would love to be able to access the full set of SRPMS and recompile them... strangely this has never proved possible! ;-) Fortunately SLC is supposed to be binary compatible with RHEL and in this case has even actually appeared to be so!
