This is an innovative and ambitious project with the aim of providing the information necessary to collect the seed of species considered high priority for conservation. Based in the herbarium at Kew, you will be part of the Species Targeting Team, dedicated to capturing this essential information, which will be used to produce Seed Collection Guides for the in-country collectors. You will be part of a team supporting the use of Geographic Information Systems in seed conservation. You will capture baseline information required by the in-country seed collectors and integrate databases within the GIS. You will also be responsible for manipulating a GIS Interface to the captured date and maintaining, developing and programming conservation and error checking algorithms. ESSENTIALS: You will need to have a undergraduate degree in a Science subject. Good knowledge of ESRI products, GIS analysis and some experience with VBA and ArcObjects. Excellent communication skills along with the ability to liaise with staff and partners at all levels both internally and externally. Must be able to effectively plan and prioritise work in order to meet targets. Able to collect and interpret data and make decisions within the scope of the project as required.
