The
corporate GIS team co-ordinates the use and publication of the
Authority’s spatial data; Managing and developing software that allows
this information to be presented to the public as well as staff within the
council. In addition, the team plays a vital support role in all aspects of
geographic information best practice. Due to increasing uptake of GIS across
the Authority we are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the
team for a period of 12 months.
Reporting to the corporate GIS manager, the primary role of the post will be to
work closely with the Education and Social Services departments in promoting
their use of spatial data. The successful applicant will make a significant
contribution to the development, implementation and management of GIS across
the council and will acquire a detailed knowledge of different services gaining
valuable experience in working closely with associated partner organisations.
You will have a good working knowledge of MapInfo GIS and Ordnance Survey
mapping. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Access,
is essential.

to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates
will be required to undertake a Criminal Record Check. The possession of a
criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this
post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role
and information provided.
