Mapping & Data Officer - Signal Research Services 
Guildford HQ
Salary: £20,538  pro rata (6 month contract)

The Signal Research Services team provides an innovative contract research
service to police forces nationally.  Through the use of bespoke
interviewing and analysis software, police officers are able to capture
vital intelligence from the local community regarding crime and disorder and
public insecurity in local neighbourhoods.

The overall purpose of this role is to provide GIS services to the Signal
Research Services team and your responsibilities will include uploading
electronic map files to client hardware and production of large scale hard
copy maps from OS files. You will also undertake the downloading and
cleaning of electronically collected geo-spatial data from client hardware,
undertaking analysis of this data where required.

To be successful, you will have an honours degree (or equivalent) in a
spatial data or information management related subject, along with
significant GIS experience, preferably Map Info ®. You will be highly
computer literate and any programming knowledge you may have would be an
advantage. In addition, you will have excellent communication and
interpersonal skills with the ability to work both in a team and
unsupervised on your own initiative.
