GIS Manager £33, 168 - £36, 402 p.a. Ref: FRGISM You will be responsible for managing the GIS team and the service it provides. You will have responsibility for defining the strategic and tactical development of GIS in support of the Council’s overall Information Systems strategies. The post holder will have direct management responsibility for permanent staff and will also be expected to manage temporary project-based staff, providing a quality cost-effective service designed to meet the Councils’ needs. You will be responsible for ensuring that all geographic services are available for use in-line with any Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that exist. You will be responsible for staff performance objectives, training needs, and implementing overall operational policy for the team. You will also have direct responsibility for all projects and should therefore have a professional qualification in project management, such as PRINCE2, and demonstrable experience of managing projects. You will hold a degree in a relevant discipline, have a minimum of five years experience of managing a GIS team or relevant service, including support and development, within a large organisation and ideally have experience of working in a Local Authority. Location The Council Offices are located in Weston-super-Mare, which is famed for its beach, and is the main town in North Somerset which stretches from the banks of the Severn Estuary in the north, to the Mendip hills in the south.
