EDAW is an integrated economic
development, regeneration, planning, design and environmental consultancy
working across the UK and internationally. We regularly work with regional
development agencies, urban and rural regeneration partnerships, local
authorities, health, housing and education authorities, as well as private
sector clients.
EDAW is seeking two GIS specialists to join a
multi-disciplinary team working on economic development, planning, regeneration,
environment and urban design projects. Positions are available currently in our
London and Manchester offices.
We are seeking to make the following
appointments:
- Experienced GIS Specialist
- Manchester - with 2-3 years experience in the application of GIS
concepts to visualise and analyse questions about socio-economic
characteristics of areas, to support and inform planning and urban design
projects. Some experience in GIS programming and customisation will be
advantageous. The candidate ideally should have a background in one of the
following disciplines: Geography, Urban Planning, Economics, or related
fields.
- GIS Technician -
London - a recent graduate, with one year's experience, to undertake
database entry, data capture and data analysis, for the generation of maps and
graphic outputs. A specific qualification in GIS would be desirable.
General
Responsibilities:
Analyse, design, create, test and
document GIS databases and data related activities in accordance with EDAW's GIS
data standards
Implement data maintenance and data migration
Responsible for successful delivery of data and database design and
reporting of baseline analysis within a larger project
Essential Experience:
Detailed practical
experience in the following areas is essential:
ArcGIS 8+ experience,
including Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst
Relational database design
(e.g. MS Access)
Desirable Experience:
Practical experience of visual basic (ArcObjects) programming for basic
GIS customisation
Working within a consultancy environment
Government projects background
Knowledge of Ordnance Survey data
Personal Skills
Excellent planning and
prioritising.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
and to short term timescales.
Demonstrate effective communication both
orally and in writing
Show initiative and make time available to ensure
technical competencies are kept up-to-data in line with industry developments.
