GIS Technician Opportunity Description: Deloitte Petroleum Services provides a number of reporting and analytical tools to the upstream petroleum industry, including PetroView, the leading industry desktop mapping and visualisation tool. We are looking for an enthusiastic GIS technician to provide support to the GIS team and the Petroleum Services group. This post is being offered on a permanent basis in our London office. Responsibilities will include: - Updating, processing and distributing datasets to clients; - Maintaining and updating the group's wall-maps which are either printed internally or published in various international journals; - Providing helpline telephone support for our clients & assistance on training courses; - Helping to raise the profile of the group and GIS team capabilities through our maps and marketing collateral. The ideal candidate will: - Have a first degree in Geography/Geology/GIS/Cartography or an equivalent vocational qualification; - Be familiar with MapInfo and ArcGIS software and associated data formats; - Have an interest in cartography and a desire to develop technical skills through the production of maps and GIS datasets; - Be a team player as the role will involve working with lots of different people throughout the group; - Be able to work on their own initiative and to tight deadlines; - Have good communication skills and a pragmatic approach to problem solving, with strong attention to detail.
