An exciting opportunity to develop the profile of gallery education in Scotland. engage Scotland, supported by the Scottish Arts Council, has been operating since 2001 and now has 150 members. Recognised as a significant visual arts education organisation, engage Scotland holds annual conferences and an ongoing programme of professional development and networking events, publishes, develops research and acts as conduit and advocate for the visual arts education community.
engage is seeking an experienced, well-motivated self-starter to develop and deliver its programme of professional development, advocacy, research and membership support in Scotland. The successful candidate will have sound project management skills and experience in the visual arts, with a background in gallery, museum, education or related freelance work. The post requires regular travel around Scotland and occasional meetings in London and other parts of the UK / abroad. It is expected that the post-holder will be home-office based.
engage is the lead body in the UK created to support the broadening of access to the visual arts and crafts – a membership organisation with over 1200 members both within the UK and internationally including gallery educators, artist educators, curators, teachers and academics. engage’s primary commitment is to the professional development and good practice of those involved in gallery education – as gallery staff and artist-educators – through training and development opportunities, action-research, advocacy and networking.
