Enfield Museum Service is looking for an experienced educator to deliver
hands on sessions to school groups in conjunction with the 'Their Past Your
Future' exhibition.

Venue:  Art Start, 11-12, South Way, Claverings Industrial Estate, Montagu
Road, Edmonton N9 0AB

Dates:  Weds 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd November 2005.

Hours: 9.30am to 4pm.

Pay: £25 per hour

This opportunity has arisen due to the museums education officer going into
hospital.


THEIR PAST YOUR FUTURE explores how the Second World War changed the people
and the places of the UK forever.  Developed by the Imperial War Museum and
funded by the BIG Lottery Fund, 9 versions of the exhibition are touring
the UK throughout 2005 and 2006.  Enfield museum service hosts the
exhibition between 19th October and 27th November 2005.  The exhibition
will be on display at Art Start in Edmonton.

Developed from personal stories that reveal how wartime experiences changed
people's lives and how people remember those they lost,THEIR PAST YOUR
FUTURE includes diaries, letters, objects and poems, unseen footage and
photographs from the Imperial War Museum archives and an audio-visual
display.  It is designed to encourage visitors to explore what they can
learn from the Second World War from their local landscape, veterans,
family and friends, and to highlight the ongoing significance sixty years
on.

In Enfield, the core exhibition will be supplemented by graphic panels and
objects from the Enfield at War exhibition.

Role

·To deliver  pre booked hands on sessions

Sessions

·A morning or afternoon session consists of 2 different 1 hour sessions
with the children swapping over after  a short break. Slot 1 involves
looking at the exhibition and meeting a home front character.
Slot 2, for which the person will be required, is artefact handling and
dressing up.


 Person Specification

 Experience/skills

Required:

·Experience of working within the museum or heritage sector (paid or
voluntary)

·Commitment to making history popular and accessible

·An understanding of equal opportunities and the importance of its
application

·Experience of facilitating history based hands on sessions for school
children

·Awareness of child protection and Health and Safety issues.

·Fluent in spoken and written english

Desirable:

·Up to date Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

·Understanding of the social history of the Second World War, and
particularly of the home front
