Dear All, apologies for an email like this on a Friday afternoon, (it should be about wonderful places in Leeds that I can discover as I visit my eldest as he starts student life there ...) but this is an exciting possibility all the same and I know how good this network is so please all information gratefully received. You may well assist in making this happen..

St Edmundsbury Museums Service is considering making the museums free of charge with the anticipation that it not only widens access but also increases income into the service through secondary sales etc Do any of you have experience of this or know where this has been successfully implemented in museums of a similar scale - I.e. 20-30,000 admissions (free and paying) and currently admissions income being c £5,500 (small shop and contracted out café) for one and c £10,000 (small shop, no café) for the other. It is expected that any new system would produce more than this £15,500 income in secondary sales, donations etc Any suggestions gratefully received.

With Thanks

peter
