Hi Amanda and All. The most effective way to go about INSET is to contact your LEA. To 'hit' the maximum number of teachers you could offer a CPD (continuing professional development) day at your venue - include some practical tasks for the teachers to do and a nice lunch! Your LEA may still have subject specialist advisors / inspectors (up here in the North East they are becoming rarer) who organise networking meetings for clusters of subject specialist teachers eg geography, art etc. I would also contact your regional MLA or Museums Hub who may have some contacts or be able to organise a joint INSET / CPD event or conference with a bigger budget. Hope this helps, feel free to get in touch if you think I can help further. Best wishes, Sarah Sarah Gouldsbrough Schools Development Officer Durham County Council - Museums. Do you call up the school and ask them (a) when their next INSET day is and (b) whether you can come and give a 10-minute presentation about what you do and how a visit to your museum/gallery/etc would be relevant? Or do you offer to run an INSET session at your venue? Or does it differ from school to school? any advice greatly appreciated!
