Dear Learned Colleagues, I am currently helping to organise reconstruction efforts together with Engineers Without Borders International and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia. There is some info available on topics on the EWB website such as agriculture, water, security, sanitation, shelter and transportation. This may not be all. In the geotech area, this area itself is wide as I went through each of the technical committee of ISSMGE. I was basically looking for one like geohazards where I can imagine I can find some contacts for advice etc and need not approach a whole range of people. I think it may well be worth thinking one for huge disasters and itself a new disciplinary and technical area for Geohazards & Reconstruction. I am sure there will be some involvement from the other committees like already one on landslides. Perhaps if you like to share some views on this and how your specialising field can contribute.
