Job Description:

Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Senior Officer for Belgium Luxemburg and EU Relations, is responsible for carrying out the following tasks:

Support to IUCN members and offices in accessing EU funds:
- Support the EU liaison Office in collecting, processing and circulating funding opportunities to IUCN’s global constituency
- Provide administrative support to IUCN offices in processing project proposals
- Develop IUCN’s relationship with European Commission Directorate Generals with the aim of securing framework agreements and funds for IUCN

Liaison between IUCN ROfE and national authorities in Belgium, Luxemburg:
- Establish good working relationship with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Development Co-operation and any other relevant Ministries, and secure funds for IUCN
- Establish or strengthen the relationship with the three Belgian regional governments, one of which is already member of IUCN

Liaison with IUCN members in Belgium and Luxemburg:
- Meet all IUCN members and maintain a permanent working relationship
- Help IUCN members to establish a National Committee where requested
- Facilitate IUCN members’ active participation in major IUCN events, at European or global level

Your Profile:

- Proven track record of fundraising and successfully managing donor relations with statutory bodies, governments, aid agencies and preferably including with the EU
- A second degree, preferably in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental policy, environmental law, environment and development or natural resources management)

- Experience of working at a senior level with governments, aid agencies, civil society, NGOs and private sector
- At least 10 years relevant professional experience in conservation, environment and development or policy work
- A specific expertise in one of the following fields: trade, marine conservation and fisheries, agriculture, research in biology/ecology is an asset

- Full command of Dutch, French and English is a prerequisite

What we offer:

- Six month assignment with possible extension

The duty station is Brussels. Entry on duty as soon as possible. Working language: English.
