Subject: Support for learning in further education - 26 October 2005

Dear Colleague

Re: Support for learning in further education: A day for Learning Support
Assistants working with students with sight loss - 26 October 2005

This event provides an important professional development opportunity for
all practitioners in the further education sector who support learners who
are blind or partially sighted.

It centres on improving delegates' knowledge and understanding of the skills
required to provide an inclusive learning environment. We will look at ways
in which to improve curriculum access. Delegates may also benefit from
sharing ideas and experiences.

Aims
1. To develop an understanding of different types of visual impairment and
their implications for learning and development.
2. To consider the roles and responsibilities of learning support
assistants.
3. Explore the various ways in which learners who are blind or partially
sighted can access information and the curriculum.

Course presenter
Seema Flower, RNIB PCET Officer, London and South East
