This is a specialist unit which helps disabled students determine their additional educational support needs and to obtain grants called Disabled Students’ Allowances to pay for them. We have a vacancy for a manager to run the Access Centre. The OU Access Centre has been open for four years and has proved a major success. We need someone dynamic, well organised and with proven management, team leader and motivational skills to build on this success, further develop the Business Plan and ensure a high quality service. You must have a thorough and extensive understanding of assistive technology, considerable experience of carrying out DSA needs assessments for disabled students and experience of training disabled students to use IT and assistive technology. A proven ability to manage and motivate a small team working flexibly in a busy environment is also essential. Excellent communication skills, an ability to plan and organise the work of others and a strong background in budget/financial management are also essential.
