Does anyone have experience of partially sighted students on nursing courses? I would appreciate information on the issues that need to be addressed during ward placements and successful strategies to overcome the barriers.

In addition Salford University runs a course which specifically recruits deaf
students to train to be mental health nurses.
Health Sciences and Practice Subject Centre are funding a mini project run by
Dr Shea Palmer at Queen Margaret University College Edinburgh
[log in to unmask] to identify case studies of reasonable adjustments made in
health related programmes of study. Shea presented at the NDT conference
recently.
The current funded strand two project at Hull has some relevance with regard to placements. Although the project focused on Social Work, discussions have taken place with nursing and healthcare courses in general. Contact Ben Fell at [log in to unmask]
