For information
UCLan, in collaboration with 3
other universities, are conducting a mini project funded by the Higher Education
Academy Subject Centre for psychology, the Psychology Network, on 'Predictive
outcomes and implications for teaching, learning and assessment of screening for
ADD and dyslexia in psychology students'
The aims are to:
- gain a broader picture of the incidence of
dyslexia and ADD characteristics in Psychology undergraduates by collecting
screening data from approximately 1000 Year 1 and 1000 Year 2 psychology
students from four institutions across the UK.
- explore, through questionnaires, when/why they do/do not seek help and to
identify outcomes from support or lack of it.
- consider implications for teaching, learning and assessment in specific
areas of psychology (eg computerised statistical analysis, participation in
practical classes, seminars, formal lectures etc).
- consider implications for retention and progression (informed by data
indicating entry qualifications, achievement, withdrawals and
progression).
