Actually seems it can be the price. However, there are much cheaper / similar products on the market. Deaf Alerter seem to be a known name so their name gets used generically (like Hoover), but it is a tad expensive. There is also a system called Pagealert, which uses vibrating pagers and is more affordable. Prices start a just over £800 Check out http://www.accessaudio.co.uk Or email: [log in to unmask] Bryan Jones, Manager, Disability Support Services & North London Regional Access Centre, Middlesex University Tel: 020 8411 5366 -----Original Message----- From: Discussion list for disabled students and their support staff. We had real alarm a last month and it worked successfully. The system was supplied by Dove Technology it is called Page Tek and costs around £650. The disavantage is that I like to keep it in a pocket ( I hate clip on belt pagers) and if I dont' have clothes with a pocket I forget to use it. Joan
