Hello everyone, still at it? Me too. I can't get my head round how best to support a dyslexic student on a BSc landscape & garden design degree and would appreciate some input. The student has confirmed that she would like a digital recorder as she cannot take notes, and could not take notes on a laptop either. She spends 10 hours per week in a design studio with staff in attendance giving talks, lectures and support. If she copies diagrams from visual aids, she won't be able to relate these to her audio files from the digital recorder, even if she uses bookmarking. I am thinking of a webcam, the kind with sound files included so that she would have the diagrams saved onto her laptop with their relevant explanations. Has anyone any experience of using these? For example is the sound quality any good? Presumably the file sizes are limited but she could use it solely for when a lecturer is drawing a diag. and save it on the spot. Also I am still left with the problem of trying to justify a laptop only to provide her with the means of having the webcam....she is willing to upgrade from a desktop to a laptop herself but if she needs the laptop to access the technological support it should be justified. However LEAs don't like to provide laptops AND digital recorders.... I'm going round in circles. I have just bought one of these all singing all dancing webcams (£30!) for my daughter but have no experience of using one. Does anybody else?
Happy Christmas everyone!
