It was agreed that we could not force the students to be recorded because it infringes on their civil liberties to do so. We also had to progress with the groupwork assignment, because it was felt that to cancel it would infringe on academic standards. We then offered the student a notetaker, which was accepted in the short term, but the student felt that this was compromising their independence. The final solution was therefore to select individuals who were happy to be recorded and make up a working group that way. I know that it is not the perfect solution, but it did work in this case. Hope that helps? However, the students in the group have refused to let her do this, although the lecturer is happy for her to do so. Does anyone know what the legalities and solutions are to support the student?
