Hi Lisa Here at the RNIB we recommend a good contrast between walls and floor and doors should have contrasting handles etc. Although it sounds horribly lurid we have light yellow walls with a purple tactile floor in most areas and dark green carpet in others, it works very well! The thing to avoid is flooring which offers no contrast to the walls, which makes it hard to allow spatial awareness etc. I have attached a fact sheet which I hope will help. We're due to redecorate/paint our libraries and I would like to make sure that they take accessibility into consideration before choosing the colour schemes. (hopefully I'm not too late!)
