I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Najla Semple to the post of DPC Executive Secretary. Najla will take up her appointment on Monday 6th March 2006. Najla has been involved in a variety of digital preservation activities, having been involved in a digital preservation research project at the University of Edinburgh some five years ago, which ran a pilot project archiving university documents using the OAIS model. She has also undertaken consultancies for the DPC, JISC, and DCC which have made good use of her expertise. The DPC registered office will remain at York, where Carol Jackson is the DPC Administration Manager and Kieron Niven also works two days a week. Najla will be based in Edinburgh but will be expected to travel fairly widely.
