Brenda We had a similar request from IR quoting the Tax Management Act. You can see from the relevant section of the Tax Credits Act 2002 (Schedule 5 paragraph 8 - see link below) that they do have the powers to request information from authorities administering housing benefit and council tax benefit and you will not be breaching the DPA by disclosing information from those systems.
