My Chief Executive sent me this yesterday:

A doctor writes to The Times reporting that he estimates answering a
journalist's request under the Freedom of Information Act cost 38 NHS
hospitals a combined £19,000. He says "Did the Government intend that
increased NHS funding should be used to subsidise journalists' research in
this way?"

I think the doctor has a very good point.
