I think the case was £3500 fine £3150 costs. I am reminded by what a company lawyer said to me where DP was involved I was her expert, as her knowledge of the in and outs of the act were limited. Salary is a mute topic across the sector I would personally like to have my salary increased into the band announced. Is this not a subjective opinion? I would have thought that there must be thousands of solicitors practising in England and one or two have now been fined. Most practising solicitors do not earn high-flying salaries - I regularly see adverts for solicitors in the north-east every week with salary ranges between £22,000 & £35,000 pa - on par with DPA officers?? I would have thought that £6,000 was quite a hefty and serious fine to a small practice ( coupled with the costs of a trial) especially if it is not covered by insurance and there may be professional consequences that follow on.
