I was always against ID cards and unified national databases. I found the governments arguments in favour to be spurious to say the least. I agree that the example is slightly OTT but the idea no longer seems as far fetched as it did a few years ago. I hope that the DPA is sufficent to halt such 'advances' but I don’t feel confident that it will.
