Fair enough! Still "Emergency Contact" is also self explanatory

Ah, "Next of Kin". Now that cannot be my wife, for she is related to me by
marriage. So is it my mother or my son?

They always ask for NoK, and always mean "Emergency Contact"

The idea itself isn't bad. Certainly, its done the rounds on the internet
but the majority of people are unlikely to know about it.

Most modern phones can hold enough characters to enter "Next of Kin" as the
contact.

ICE could mean anything to the uninitiated.

This one is definitely genuine, Anglia TV had someone from the Ambulance
Service on the local news to explain it, saves them phoning every name in
your mobile's address book

Just received this one, genuine?? See this link:
http://www.eastanglianambulance.com/

Following the disaster in London . . .

East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In Case of
Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon
Weston.

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address
book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be
contacted "In Case of Emergency".

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to
quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them.

It's so simple that everyone can do it.

Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book, it won't
take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really
could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

Yes, I would second that. It's a "hoax" rather than a "scam", and every
single instance I've ever seen that asked to be "passed on" was one.

If there were ever any real messages of this kind (and they are very
rare) they would always include contact details of where to get further
information, in some form or other (eg either a website or a callcentre)
