Information sharing protocols - I love 'em!

Offenders will normally be attending such teaching sessions as part of
their order from the court, so the probation service needs to know if they
have attended. We also have national targets aimed at improving offenders'
basic skills levels, so we need to know if they are making progress. If
Joe takes it easy at the back of the class every week and plays games on
his mobile then, in an extreme example, he may be breached and taken back
to court. Offenders know this when they agree to do such courses.

The exchange of information between college and probation service is an
intrinsic part of the arrangement. The protocol/ consent form is there to
clarify exactly what information you will be sharing with the probation
service so each side (probation and service provider) knows what is
expected of them.

        Subject: [data-protection] Sharing Consent Form

We are currently providing teaching sessions to clients of the Probation
Service.

They have now asked that we sign an Information Sharing Consent Form.

This commits us to sharing information with the National Probation Service
Humberside regarding attendance and progress. Does it cut across any data
protection issues?

I am aware that other local providers have signed the Consent form.

I would welcome your advice.
