On a trawl through some newsgroups this evening, I happened to spot this: http://www.aclu.org/pizza/images/screen.swf (Shockwave & sound required) Which is an alarming view of a future that seems ever more likely. There is an explanation of the history of planned legislation which may allow it to happen in the US here: http://www.aclu.org/Privacy/Privacy.cfm?ID=16021&c=39 Being rather sceptical of such claims, I had a look through the legislative documents and other links. Seems to be some basis for their concerns. So, I wonder, are we far from this here? Will the governments propsed ID card/national database and their seemingly schizophrenic need to play nanny state/big brother state lead to a similar scenario in this country. Most importantly, is the current Data Protection Act enough to stop this? It does seem that with a few minor, almost un-noticed changes to other legislation,it could. The technology is certainly here. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. Rgds Carl -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
