Colleagues I keep getting calls from my bank, unprompted and out of the blue, to discuss various aspects of my account. Sometimes it's a routine call for "fraud prevention purposes." The usual line at the outset is : " Mr Hasan, before I can discuss anything with you please let me have your date of birth." I refuse on the grounds that I do not know them from Adam and for all I know they could by "baggers" trying to get my information to forge my identity. My suspicions are further aroused by the fact that their number is not shown on my phone. Does anyone else get these calls from their bank? Is it not bad DP practice top encourage customers to give their personal details over the phone?
