I don;t know the ins and outs of the case, I but for whatever reason, the decision has been made and this gentleman has been deemed unworthy of our trade. I was just a bit concerned about whether or not sending his details was going to breach his DP rights. The solicitors have had a look at it and they were happy with the decision for whatever reasons. Maybe the sandwiches just weren't up to scratch! If so I'd still buy them. While this may be factual and public domain and all the other good stuff, is it reasonable to do it at all? Or, assuming that he does not owe you money yourself, would it not be reasonable to allow him to make and sell butties and work his way out of bankruptcy? -----Original Message----- From: This list is for those interested in Data Protection issues [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Duncan James Sent: 12 October 2005 12:58 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [data-protection] Notice to staff One of my colleagues was about to send this notice to all staff. Mr X ( tel. no XXX XXXX) who has supplied sandwiches to this building was declared bankrupt on XX. As the above should no longer be trading, under no circumstances whatsoever are staff to place any further orders with this person but alternatively find another supplier. This is to take immediate effect. If she sends this to staff, I am worried that this will be breaching the individuals DP rights, I would prefer a statement like "Mr X is no longer to be used as a supplier within the council". Would this be acceptable? Has anyone had a similar problem?
