The theme is Ethics in a Virtual World. The scope of the conference is broad. Papers and other conference contributions are invited on any aspect of teaching applied and professional ethics in higher education; and on any ethical issue that gives rise to questions about how the issue needs to be addressed in higher education. Contributions that address issues arising in the virtual world are particularly welcome but the conference will remain broad in its scope of ethics. Proposals are invited for papers and other types of academic event. - Proposals for papers should take the form of an abstract not exceeding 500 words. Full papers when presented should take no more than 25 minutes delivery time leaving up to 15 minutes for discussion in 40 minute sessions. - Proposals for other types of academic event will also be welcome. An innovation for the 2005 conference will be the inclusion of facilitated discussions introduced by ten minute introductions. Proposals to facilitate such round table discussions should include:- - full text of the ten minute introduction; - brief descriptions of the process of the event including the manner of opening discussion, questions to be posed, facilitation of discussion, closure. Proposals are also invited for other formats for exchanging ideas in an academic context. These might include demonstrations of specific pedagogies such as the use of debates in teaching ethics. Details of what is proposed should be described. The date for submitting abstracts has now been extended until the 31st March. Abstracts for papers must not exceed 500 words.
