A very happy 2005 to all on the list.
A quiet holiday? Ordinary UK folk here have
raised so many millions for the victims of the South Asian disaster they've
severely embarrassed the UK government into giving more aid. Meanwhile, a lot of
us are pondering how an earthquake at sea anywhere in the world cannot be
spotted by any number of satellites over us and warnings relayed thereby (given
that over two hours elapsed before the waves hit). Ah, but - they did
know...
My Christmas reading (what was given) 'Love All
The People,' Bill Hicks and Sarah Kane's Complete Plays. A big disappointment
- Ricky Gervais' 'Politics' video. The worst thing I've eyed in
years - and now he's going to write for 'The Simpsons.' Nothing makes
sense.
Luckily, Lowestoft was quiet - except a little post-Xmas
get together here was gate-crashed by the drummer and bass player of 'The
Darkness' and their followers. Nice bunch. I kicked off Karaoke poetry
at 3am. "Didn't understand a word," they said, "but it was great!"
Oh well. It's all to do. Happy Year to you all.
