Text and Context: Scholarly Editing in the Twenty-First Century - an A.H.R.B. funded Postgraduate Student Conference. This postgraduate conference is the centrepiece of a two-year AHRB-funded collaborative research training framework for postgraduate students of English at the University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Loughborough University and Nottingham Trent University. The scope of the conference is broad, considering aspects of the following: Literary-critical approaches to the production of text Historical / Art-Historical approaches to the production of text The relation of literary and/or cultural theory to the production of text The theory of textual editing The materiality of texts, including the issues of copying and circulation, and the relation of material design to meaning The archiving of text, including images, and its presentation to the public The influence of authors, readers, patrons, scribes, editors, publishers and literary executors on the production of texts The process of making and presenting scholarly discoveries, in relation to archival work, manuscripts and biographical information The editing of journals and book series Editing for, and publishing on, the web Using electronic editorial tools Palaeography The use of texts from different discourses in interdisciplinary research Hypertext Copyright Event dates: 6-7th June 2005 at De Montfort University, Leicester This is a postgraduate event, featuring two guest speakers.
