Could anyone with these sort of contacts within the NHS let me know as I can add them as a resource to the FAST website?

Thanks,

Aidan.

As Colin Clayton points out, getting products to a stage where they can be produced commercially is a long process which requires much time and effort. It is especially difficult in the assistive technology field where market size can be limited. In our NHS area there is an organization called Innovations North which is charged with exploiting ideas with commercial potential. They do patent searches and try to link the product to appropriate manufacturers. I assume they have counterparts in other regions.

The Bath Institute of Medical Engineering http://www.bath.ac.uk/bime/ started a manufacturing unit some years ago to produce and market devices which meet a limited need. In some cases they manufacture the device only which is then sold by a marketing company, such as Nottingham Rehab.
