Hi everyone I have subscribed to this list for some time, and read the various discussion threads with interest but haven't posted to it before. We have been asked by one of the universities to look for candidates for a Deputy Archivist post, offered as a 3 year fixed term contract, to plan, organise and manage day-to-day and year-on-year administration of the centre, so that its effective functioning can be monitored and reported to the University and so that users are able to pursue their research as efficiently as possible. The successful candidate will also supervise the centre's staff, and develop and implement an IT policy for the centre to support all its work, particularly enabling data to be exchanged with internal and external projects and preserved over the long-term. The centre holds a collection of primary sources for British social political and economic history, especially in the fields of industrial relations, labour history and industrial politics. Its current holdings fill over 10,000 shelf metres. Candidates for this post need to have a Postgraduate professional archival qualification, and ideally Registered Archivist status, with at least 5 years relevant experience under approved professional supervision. Knowledge and experience of completion of large, complicated cataloguing projects to international and indexing standards is also important, as is knowledge of archival theory to include UK and international legislation and standards (e.g., access conditions, copyright, data protection, freedom of information, ISAD(G2), ISAAR (CPF) v.2, BS5454, EAD, XML and LCSH) They are offering a salary from just over £30,000 up to £35,883 plus final salary pension scheme. Travel expenses will be paid for candidates attending interview and the university offers a relocation package to assist with costs should the successful candidate need to move closer. The university is located in the East Midlands. If this role sounds like it could be of interest to you then please contact me with a copy of your CV on [log in to unmask] If it isn't quite right for you, but you know someone who may be interested then please feel free to pass on these details and ask them to get in touch. regards Nicola
