NORTH EAST INHERITANCE PROJECT
Durham University Library requires three staff for a three-year Heritage 
Lottery Funded cataloguing, indexing and conservation project.  The 
North East Inheritance project will create an online catalogue of wills, 
inventories and other probate records for the diocese of Durham from the 
16th century to 1858, linked to digital images of the records.

ASSISTANT CONSERVATOR  (Ref. 1130)
£17,977 - £19,622 pa
To conserve seventeenth-century wills and eighteenth-century probate 
bonds.  You will join a busy Conservation Unit undertaking a wide 
variety of work, including environmental monitoring of the collections, 
conservation and repair of paper, parchment, maps, seals etc., binding, 
preventive rehousing, photography and exhibition work.

SENIOR PROJECT CATALOGUER  (Ref. 1131)
£20,044 - £22,289 pa

PROJECT CATALOGUER (Ref 1132)
£17,977 - £19,093 pa
To complete the cataloguing and indexing of the Durham probate records.  
You will work alongside volunteers from local and family history 
societies on listing and indexing the most straightforward records, and 
will catalogue the archivally more complex and older documents.

The Senior Project Cataloguer will help organise outreach and 
promotional activities with the volunteers, manage the day to day 
operation of the project and supervise the Project team.  The Project 
Cataloguer will also assist with supervision of the volunteers.

OTHER
All posts are fixed-term for three years and applications are invited 
from experienced and newly qualified archivists and conservators.
