An Introduction to Causal Analysis in Stata This one-day course will take place at the Royal Statistical Society in London on Monday 13 June. The course is presented by Graham Dunn and Andrew Pickles (University of Manchester) and the aims of the course are: 1. To introduce participants to the problem of inferring the effects of treatment or exposure in the presence of self-selection and/or confounding. 2. To review some of the concepts and vocabulary of the causal inference literature. 3. To provide a non-technical introduction to the more commonly used methods of estimating causal effects (with particular reference to methodological developments in epidemiology and econometrics). 4. To illustrate the implementation of the statistical methods in Stata. The intended audience are those wishing to improve their statistical understanding of and skills in making causal inference. Familiarity with generalised linear models is assumed. Familiarity with Stata is an advantage.
