Dear Listmembers. Consider the following: Four groups of blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) were given different pre-treatments for a period of 3 weeks. At end of the period the activity of 10 random selected mussels from each group were measured as oxygen consumption. The oxygen consumption was recorded for each individual animal at regular intervals over 48 hours yielding a time-series of 125 repeated measurements on each individual. The four groups consisted of two different treatments and one positive and one negative control. What will be the most suitable statistical approach to compare the different time-series from individual animals - both within each treatment group (to look at the natural variation within the group) - and between the different treatments to look for effects of the pre-treatments?
