We are currently recruiting for the following position in our LONDON office: Lead Statistician (reference 05-022) Description: As part of our RMS Climate Hazards Team, you will work with statisticians, hydrologists, meteorologists, climate scientists, engineers, geophysicists, software professionals, and actuaries to incorporate modern modeling technologies in state-of-the-art insurance risk assessment software tools. Responsibilities include: Develop and expand stochastic event sets and hazard and risk models for the RMS climate hazard and risk team in London. Employ and analyze results from extended datasets and statistically downscale results from GCM tools and develop techniques to simulate flood and windstorm hazard in Europe and Oversees. Adapt state-of-the-art technologies for extreme event regional modeling applications. Manage less senior statisticians and/or flood modelers. Your contributions will aid clients in the insurance industry to assess their portfolio windstorm risk and will enable them to make decisions related to their allocation of capital and reinsurance purchases. Requirements: The applicant must be highly motivated and self-directed in complex projects and should be team-oriented. Solid technical programming gained through practical experience is necessary and expertise in C++ is desired. The position requires a graduate, a Ph.D. or similar degree in mathematics or statistics and at least 4 years of experience in statistics and risk studies. Strong analytical background is required. Applicants should have the ability to be creative when tackling complex mathematical research and development problems and should be able to handle large data-sets.
