LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN MEDICAL STATISTICS

£23,643 - £36,428 Ref: 47B-18-02

An experienced statistician, you will contribute to the growing development
of the Faculty's portfolio of research, course and consultancy activities,
with particular reference to its quantitative research activities.

In addition to contributing to existing applied research, you will develop
your own area of research consistent with the Faculty's research strategy.
You will also be involved in some teaching and consultancy work.

With a track record in research and experience of applied medical
statistics, your qualifications should include a higher degree in
statistics/medical statistics and a teaching qualification (or willingness
to undertake PGCE on appointment).

Interviews for this position will take place on the afternoon of 1st April
2005.

Job description

Job Purpose:   To provide a positive contribution to the growing
development of the Faculty’s portfolio of research, courses and consultancy
and to engage in curriculum and personal development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1)  To contribute to the development of the Faculty’s quantitative research
activities, and contribute to and support its submissions to the Research
Assessment Exercise.

2)  To support the development of cross-Departmental and cross-Faculty
initiatives involving quantitative research in medicine, health and allied
subjects.

3)  To undertake research and scholarly activity in statistics

4)   To provide high-quality advice on design and analysis of quantitative
studies to postgraduate students across the Faculty of Health.

5)   To support the development and delivery of high-quality and innovative
education in quantitative research methods across the Faculty of Health.

6)  To contribute to consultancy (IGA) involving the provision of support
and/or education in the design and/or statistical analysis of quantitative
studies.

7) To undertake other personal and professional development commensurate
with the role as described in 1) - 6) above.

8)  To represent, where appropriate, the Faculty’s interests within the
University and externally in the general area of research.

9)  To undertake any other duties relevant to the role and commensurate
with the level of the post as directed by the Head of Department or Dean of
Faculty.
