The new University of Manchester is making a considerable investment in a number of areas including social statistics. The University is now advertising a chair and an associated lectureship in social statistics but also has plans for further large-scale investment in the future. We hope that the new appointee will lead this process of expansion and contribute to building a major new centre for excellence in social statistics.
