SUBJECT CENTRE EVENTS
1. MAKING THE BEST USE OF VLEs
There are still a few places left on this workshop which took place at Sheffield Hallam University on 17 May and is being repeated at the University of Southampton on 06 June 2005.
It is designed to give participants the opportunity to explore and discuss the potential of VLEs to provide a stimulating and effective learning environment for language learners.

Maximum number of participants: 18. The event will be free of charge. Lunch can be purchased from the restaurant on campus.
2. WORKING WITH INTERACTIVE MULTI MEDIA FOR LANGUAGE LEARNING
Thursday 23 June 2005 9.30am - 4.30pm
Venue: School of Languages & Area Studies, Park Building, King Henry 1st street. University of Portsmouth. Melissi Labs 3.14 and 3.16 3rd Floor
The workshop will provide a hands-on opportunity for EFL and MFL teachers to familiarise themselves with the functionalities of a digital language learning classroom.

3. EXTERNAL EXAMINING FOCUS GROUP
The Subject Centre is holding a focus group on June 30 from 10.30 - 13.00 at CILT in London to explore how external examiners can be better supported in our subject communities. "Get Talking Too" is a one-day event which aims to provide a focal point and meeting place for all involved in languages in Adult and Further Education. The Subject Centre is looking for graduates of English, History, Classics, Archaeology, Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies to be interviewed for a research project investigating longer term employability. We are particularly interested in talking to graduates who have been working for the past 3 years.
