A local endocrine surgeon asked if I could explain a possible molecular basis for an apparent association between Hyperparathyroidism and Polycythaemia - it seems there are some case reports in the literature of such an association and the polycythaemia resolves post surgery (I'm relying on his account, haven't read the papers). Is anyone aware of this association or can offer a mechanism Thanks Joe Dr JP Begley Clinical Biochemistry Poole Hospital Longfleet Road Poole BH15 2JB Tel: 01202 442155 Fax: 01202 448454 DISCLAIMER: This e-mail and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. I have had a query about a possible HPL secreting tumour.
