Following on from the figures quoted for national tariffs. Members of this

This site is devoted to publishing the data produced from the Quality and
Outcomes Framework of the GP contract in the UK.
This has been used as a method of paying general practitioners but it
contains a lot of information of general interest. Examples include the
variation of recorded disease prevalence across the UK
The interactive map is most interesting. The standardised format of data
display gives the viewer the impression the data is based on a consistent
means of derivation..
Variation in disease prevalence assumes that similar diagnostic approaches
are used. This may not the case. Take for example the apparent difference in
Thyroid disease prevalence in Torbay (2.8%) to my own beloved city of Exeter
(2.2%) a mere 19 miles distant.Clearly age/ sex/ ethnicity play a role, but
it would be interesting if different diagnostic strategies were playing a
role. And goodness me Richmond and Twickenham come in at a staggering 1.9%.
Richmonds asthma rate seems to be lower than the national average as well,
must be all those LPG cars.
Good website though, you can even see how your local GP's are rating.
Cheers John
