Thanks Rosie, I am well aware that other companies make mp3 players. I
should have said iPod and other hard drive based recording devices.
With that in mind has anyone trialled any of these when recording lectures.
Are any able to edit the file/track name actually on the device rather than
on a laptop?

We used to sell the 20Gig iPods with the Belkin Voice Recorder for the
students, so they could record into the iPod as a voice file and it
would sync with iTunes as an MP3 and appear in your list in iTunes.
There was a connection on the top of the older iPods to plug the
Belkin Voice Recorder into. However the new range of iPods does not
have this facility any longer.
I was disappointed, as this was the replacement unit for students who
previously used Sony Mini Disc players and microphones, they use it
for music, voice memos and for carrying around files, and 20Gig was a
good start size. Now we have had to revert back to the Olympus
Recorder bundle which is not ideal, and of course is not a storage
device.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, perhaps Apple will bring it back
in the future? We will keep an eye out if it does and let you know!
