Hi Karen The balustrade around the landing should be 1100mm high and able to withstand the impact of someone falling against it. (Building Regulations Part K - K2/3 Section 3 Diagram 11). The guarding to the stairs should be 900mm high. Any spindles should be spaced so that a 100mm sphere will not pass through the gap. (eg at 100mm centres) Regards Alan Hunt Access Officer Pembrokeshire County Council ----------End of Message---------- Run by SURFACE for more information on research, consultancy and the distance taught MSc. in Accessibility and Inclusive Design programme visit: http://www.inclusive-design.it Archives for the Accessibuilt discussion list are located at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/accessibuilt.html
