Owen,

I would strongly recommend you register with:

Discussion of the implications of FoI for FE and HE institutions

There has been considerable discussion since the fees regs passed through
parliament last Thursday so look at the archives for the last 4-5 days.

Subject: Information on charging for FOI

A message was sent to this list in November concerning the speech by the DCA
minister on his intentions on charges under the FOI Act

The Lord Chancellor says: "so I am pleased to announce today, that for the
vast majority of cases there will be no charge for information supplied
under the Freedom of Information Act.
Freedom of Information really means free information.
The Government will lay fees regulations before Parliament in November.
There will be no charge for information that costs public bodies less than
£450 to produce. And for central government, the cost ceiling will be set at
£600."

As of yet, I can't see anywhere any formalisation of this into fee
regulations despite the nearness of the New Year. Has anyone any more up to
date information please ?
