The October 2004
issue of _Ariadne_ has an interesting study by Carol Jean Godby titled "What Do
Application Profiles Reveal about the Learning Object Metadata
Standard?" [1] The article builds substantially on data gathered from Norm
Friesen's July 2003 research on LOM application profiles. [2]
Godby's study turns up interesting results on the use of the LOM across a number
of application profiles and geographic regions. It also addresses the
relationship between the most frequently used elements in the LOM and DCMI
properties. It is also my understanding that Norm Friesen repeated his
study this year and that a draft dated July 27, 2004 has been out in limited
circulation.
